This is how Bibop opened his legendary M.E.T.A.L. speech in Santa Monica, setting the bar impossibly low — only to blow everyone away. This book follows the same philosophy: authentic, irreverent, and full of stories that will make you laugh while teaching you about the future of transportation.
The Power of NO
The first 'NO' that shaped everything. When Bibop was 9 years old, his father bought one of the first computers and jealously guarded it in the attic study.
Don't even think about it. The answer is: NO! You are too young! Then I have to work at it and not play with it.
That NO became an obsession. Together with his 11-year-old sister, Bibop devised a plan involving an aluminum ladder, a roof hatch, and a bookcase used as a climbing wall. The result? Landing directly on his father's model train set, knocking down the plastic lamppost near the third interchange.
Years later, that forbidden computer transformed a curious child into a programmer, then into the young software development manager of a Canadian multinational at age 15. All thanks to one NO.
I Am God!
After months of sneaking into his father's attic, copying source code from magazines and learning to program the keyboard...
By pressing a key on the keyboard, I could display the corresponding note on the computer, and with a specific code, I could do the opposite and send whole scores to the keyboard.
I am God!
...he thought, as the plasticine trainmaster from the model train set winked and nodded from the third platform. That moment of childhood hubris would later fuel the confidence needed to co-found a company reimagining transportation for the entire planet.
The Great Train Crash
Breaking into the attic required climbing a precarious aluminum ladder. The sister held steady below while 9-year-old Bibop climbed towards the roof hatch. Using the bookcase shelves like steps, he descended... and lost his balance, landing directly on the model train station.
"I'm in!" he shouted enthusiastically.
"We noticed!" replied his sister, referring to the tremendous crash.
The plastic lamppost near the third interchange was knocked down. The miniature passengers at the west station platform looked on in terror as Godzilla disrupted their world. That secret reason for complacency would fuel Bibop's mischievous spirit for years to come.

Walter brought along his best friend, Dirk Ahlborn, a German entrepreneur living in LA who spoke perfect Italian. Within moments, they realized they shared a vision for transforming transportation. That casual introduction would become the founding moment of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
A decision that changed my life forever, as Bibop would later write in his acknowledgments.
